Decodo — the company formerly known as Smartproxy — undercuts Oxylabs at every published residential volume at list prices (July 2026): $35/mo for 10 GB versus $100/mo for the smallest Oxylabs plan that covers 10 GB, and $275 versus $500 at the 100 GB mark. Oxylabs answers with deeper targeting (coordinates, ZIP, ASN), documented 24-hour sticky sessions, HTTP3 support, and a larger claimed pool — 175M+ IPs against Decodo's 115M+ (both vendor claims). Choose Decodo for price and self-serve onboarding, Oxylabs for targeting precision and enterprise compliance posture.

Key takeaways

  • Decodo wins on published price at every tier: $3.75/GB at 3 GB ($11.25/mo), $3.50/GB at 10 GB ($35/mo), $2.75/GB at 100 GB ($275/mo), and $2.00-$2.50/GB on 250-1,000 GB enterprise plans — all plus VAT (July 2026).
  • Oxylabs' tier structure penalizes small buyers: no pay-as-you-go rate was published in July 2026, and covering 10 GB means buying the $100/mo Basic plan (20 GB) — an effective $10.00/GB at that usage.
  • Oxylabs wins targeting granularity: continent, country, state, city, ZIP, coordinates, and ASN, plus HTTP3 and documented sticky sessions up to 24 hours; Decodo matches everything except coordinates and describes sticky sessions as minutes up to days.
  • Smartproxy became Decodo on April 22, 2025, with accounts, pricing, and endpoints carried over unchanged — every 'Oxylabs vs Smartproxy' page written before that date describes this matchup under a stale brand.
  • Both enforce real KYC and both are EWDCI members: Oxylabs collects a KYC form from every customer with risk-based escalation, while Decodo runs automated fraud checks plus third-party screening at registration and blocks high-risk targets like banking and ticketing outright.
  • For managed scraping, Oxylabs' Web Scraper API starts at $0.25 per 1K results versus $0.50 per 1K standard requests at Decodo — both have free tiers worth testing before buying raw bandwidth.

Engineer’s take (Hinata): The real decision variable is which axis is scarce for you — dollars or precision. I would first check whether my targets genuinely need coordinate-level targeting or a guaranteed 24-hour session ceiling; if not, that granularity premium buys nothing and Decodo's self-serve ladder is the cheaper experiment to run: an $11.25 entry tier, and either a 3-day trial (card required) or a 14-day money-back, not both, per the current trial terms. If they do, size the Oxylabs tier from measured bytes per successful page rather than estimates, because the 5 GB and 20 GB tier boundaries are exactly where effective rates double.

Correction, September 30, 2026: an earlier version of this article said Decodo's 3-day trial and its 14-day money-back combine. They do not — activating the trial removes the refund. We also updated Oxylabs' trial terms to match its current pages.

One naming fact up front, because it invalidates most of what already ranks for this query: Smartproxy rebranded to Decodo on April 22, 2025, and according to Decodo, accounts, subscriptions, pricing, endpoints, and billing all carried over unchanged. Every legacy "Oxylabs vs Smartproxy" comparison is therefore describing this exact matchup under an old name — usually with pre-rebrand prices attached. Everything below comes from the current oxylabs.io and decodo.com pages as displayed on July 17, 2026.

Pricing: Decodo's tier ladder vs Oxylabs' minimum-tier trap

According to their pricing pages (July 2026), the two plan structures look like this:

Oxylabs planMonthly priceTrafficEffective rate
Starter$30/mo5 GB$6.00/GB
Basic ("Most popular")$100/mo20 GB$5.00/GB
Advanced$500/mo125 GB$4.00/GB
Corporate$2,500/mo1 TB$2.50/GB
Decodo plan (all plus VAT)Monthly priceTrafficEffective rate
Pay-as-you-gononeper GB$4.00/GB
3 GB$11.25/mo3 GB$3.75/GB
10 GB$35/mo10 GB$3.50/GB
25 GB$81.25/mo25 GB$3.25/GB
50 GB$150/mo50 GB$3.00/GB
100 GB$275/mo100 GB$2.75/GB
Enterprise (250-1,000 GB)varies250-1,000 GB$2.50-$2.00/GB

The structural difference matters more than any single rate. Decodo publishes six price points between 0 and 100 GB, including no-commitment pay-as-you-go. Oxylabs publishes four subscription tiers, no pay-as-you-go rate, and wide gaps between tiers. Two worked scenarios show what that does to real bills:

  1. 10 GB per month. Decodo's 10 GB plan is $35 flat — $3.50/GB, plus VAT (still $42 at a 20% VAT rate). At Oxylabs, the $30 Starter plan caps at 5 GB, so the cheapest published route covering 10 GB is the $100 Basic plan: you use 10 of 20 GB and pay an effective $10.00/GB. Top-ups exist (Starter/Basic up to 100 GB), but the top-up rate was not published on the page we fetched, so it cannot rescue the arithmetic on paper. That is roughly a 3x price gap at small scale. The full Oxylabs rate card, across residential, Web Unblocker and Scraper API, is laid out on our Oxylabs pricing ledger.
  2. 100 GB per month. Decodo's 100 GB plan is $275 flat — $2.75/GB plus VAT. Oxylabs' Advanced plan carries 125 GB for $500; using 100 of it works out to $5.00/GB effective, and even at full consumption the rate is $4.00/GB. Decodo is $225/mo cheaper at this volume, or about 45% off the Oxylabs bill.

Oxylabs' published rates only reach parity at the very top: its $2,500/mo Corporate tier hits $2.50/GB at a full terabyte, which matches the top of Decodo's enterprise range ($2.50/GB at 250 GB) but not its floor ($2.00/GB at 1,000 GB). One point in Oxylabs' favor: Proxyway's Proxy Market Research 2026 (data collected March-April 2026) notes Oxylabs removed long-running discount codes and revised permanent plans down roughly 25%, so its listed prices are non-promotional numbers you can budget against. Decodo's prices exclude VAT, so EU buyers should add their local rate before comparing. For the same math extended to Bright Data and IPRoyal, see our proxy pricing comparison.

Features and targeting: Oxylabs is the precision pick

Both providers include fine-grained geo-targeting at no extra cost, which already puts them ahead of budget vendors that gate city or ASN targeting behind higher tiers. The documented lists:

  • Oxylabs: continent, country, state, city, ZIP code, coordinates, and ASN.
  • Decodo: continent, country, state, city, ZIP code, and ASN.

Coordinate-level targeting is the Oxylabs exclusive here, and for ad verification work — confirming a geo-fenced campaign actually renders where it should — it is a documented, practical edge. For price monitoring and SEO rank tracking, country and city targeting are usually enough, and both deliver that.

Three more documented differences:

  1. Session ceilings. Oxylabs documents sticky sessions up to 24 hours — a hard number you can design against. Decodo describes sticky sessions as lasting "from minutes up to days," which reads as more flexible but gives you no guaranteed maximum on the page we fetched. If a long-running crawl depends on holding one IP for a known duration, the provider that publishes its ceiling is the safer spec.
  2. Protocols. Oxylabs supports HTTP(S), HTTP3, and SOCKS5; Decodo lists HTTP(S) and SOCKS5. HTTP3 support is still rare and can matter against targets that fingerprint transport behavior.
  3. Performance claims. Oxylabs claims a 0.41 s average response time and 99.95% success rate; Decodo claims sub-0.5 s response, 99.92% success, and 99.99% uptime. All of these are vendor claims measured against vendor-chosen targets — treat them as marketing parity, not a measured difference.

On pool size, Oxylabs claims 175M+ residential IPs versus Decodo's 115M+ across 195+ locations (both vendor claims, neither independently audited). For context, Proxyway's 2026 research puts the median advertised residential pool across 13 benchmarked providers at 54M IPs, so both advertise well above the field. Our Oxylabs review and Decodo review unpack each network in detail.

KYC and compliance: two philosophies, both real

Neither provider sells anonymous access, and we count that as a feature: vetted networks are what make residential proxies defensible infrastructure for legitimate data collection.

Oxylabs runs a human-shaped process. Every customer completes a KYC form at signup (business and contact details, use case), and risk-based escalation can add ID verification, compliance calls, and risk questionnaires, with the compliance team monitoring usage after onboarding, per its KYC and safety policy. It is a founding member of the Ethical Web Data Collection Initiative and among the inaugural EWDCI Certified companies, and its published sourcing handbook grades acquisition methods by consent quality, stating a majority of the network is its top "Tier A+" grade (vendor claim, no independent audit shown).

Decodo automates the same gate. Its security and compliance page describes automated fraud checks, KYC verification, and third-party screening for every customer at registration, with suspicious activity triggering third-party ID verification. Distinctively, Decodo actively blocks high-risk target categories outright — banking and financial sites, government portals, streaming, app stores, and ticketing — rather than relying on review alone. It states GDPR/CCPA alignment, publishes an ethical residential sourcing policy (peers opt in with informed consent and are paid per GB contributed — vendor claim), and is an EWDCI co-founder with the EWDCI Certified designation.

The practical difference: Oxylabs' process gives an enterprise a named compliance counterpart and an audit trail, which procurement teams tend to like. Decodo's process is faster for a small legitimate operator — automated checks plus a 3-day self-serve trial (card required) versus an on-request Oxylabs trial issued once per client (7 days for verified companies). Neither is as restrictive as Bright Data's company-only residential gate, which we cover in Bright Data vs Oxylabs; how the networks are built is covered in our ethical proxy sourcing guide.

Scraping APIs: the sidebar that might change your architecture

If your workload is "fetch N pages successfully" rather than "push N gigabytes," both vendors sell a managed alternative, and the pricing models reward comparing before you buy raw bandwidth:

  • Oxylabs Web Scraper API: per-result pricing from $0.25 per 1K results — you pay only for successful results. The free trial includes up to 2K results, no credit card required (source).
  • Decodo Web Scraping API: per-request pricing at $0.50 per 1K standard-proxy requests — free plan of 2,000 requests/month (10 requests/s, no credit card), then a $19/mo Core plan with 38,000 requests/month; requests using premium proxies plus JS rendering cost $1.50 per 1K across tiers, with a 14-day money-back option on paid plans (forfeited once you claim the free plan), prices plus VAT (source).

Headline rates are "from" prices and not directly comparable — Oxylabs' $0.25 per 1K is a floor rate, and Decodo's $0.50 rate covers standard-proxy requests, tripling once JS rendering enters. The free tiers differ in kind, too: Oxylabs' 2K results are a one-time trial, while Decodo's 2,000 requests renew monthly, making it the better ongoing sandbox. If I were choosing today, I would run both free tiers against my actual target list and let measured success rates decide. The full field is ranked in our best scraping APIs guide.

Our methodology

This is a document-based comparison. Every price, feature, and pool figure comes from Oxylabs and Decodo pricing, product, and policy pages fetched on July 17, 2026 (trial terms re-checked September 30, 2026), plus dated third-party research from Proxyway where noted; performance and pool-size numbers are vendor claims and labeled as such. ProxyFacts has not yet run first-hand benchmarks. Some links on this page are affiliate links — if you sign up through them, ProxyFacts may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, which never changes the numbers we report or how we rank providers. We evaluate proxy infrastructure only for legitimate use cases such as price monitoring, SEO tracking, ad verification, market research, and AI training data collection.

Verdict: Oxylabs vs Decodo

4.5 out of 5

Decodo wins this matchup on price at every published volume — $3.50/GB at 10 GB, $2.75/GB at 100 GB, $2.00-$2.50/GB at enterprise scale (plus VAT), against Oxylabs rates that only reach $2.50/GB at a $2,500/mo terabyte — and a self-serve trial (card required) or a money-back option, not both, makes it the faster start for small legitimate teams. Oxylabs wins on precision and posture: coordinate-level targeting, HTTP3, a documented 24-hour sticky ceiling, a larger claimed pool (175M+ vs 115M+, both vendor claims), and a human-reviewed compliance process that enterprise procurement can lean on. Pick Decodo when cost per gigabyte decides; pick Oxylabs when targeting depth or vendor-compliance requirements do. Since the April 2025 rebrand changed the Smartproxy name but not the prices, treat any older comparison as out of date.

Frequently asked questions

Did prices change when Smartproxy became Decodo? No. Per Decodo's own rebrand page, the April 22, 2025 rebrand carried accounts, subscriptions, pricing, endpoints, and billing over unchanged — the July 2026 pages show $4.00/GB pay-as-you-go down to $2.00/GB at 1,000 GB.

Can a freelancer or small unregistered team get onboarded by either? Both are more accessible than Bright Data's company-only residential policy. Decodo's automated registration checks plus 3-day trial (card required) are the fastest path; Oxylabs asks every customer for a KYC form and may escalate to ID verification on risk signals. Either way, come with a documented, legitimate use case — that is what the checks exist to confirm.

Whose speed and success-rate claims should I trust? Neither, without your own testing. Oxylabs claims 0.41 s average response and 99.95% success; Decodo claims under 0.5 s and 99.92% — all vendor-measured against vendor-chosen targets. During a trial, measure success rate against your own target list; that number will disagree with both marketing pages.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, at every published volume (July 2026). Decodo's 10 GB plan costs $35/mo ($3.50/GB, plus VAT), while the smallest Oxylabs plan that covers 10 GB is the $100/mo Basic tier (20 GB) — an effective $10.00/GB at that usage. At 100 GB, Decodo charges $275/mo ($2.75/GB) versus $500/mo for Oxylabs' 125 GB Advanced plan.
